There’s a reason why the coconut is called one of nature’s best super foods. It’s praised by nutritionists for its many health benefits. We personally use it for making homemade popcorn, removing makeup and as a general cooking oil. The more we learn about it, the more we use it!
When we first looked at creating a recipe for our soaps, lotions and body scrubs, it was a no brainer to include coconut oil in the mix. So what’s inside that makes the coconut so great for your skin?
Coconut oil is high in fatty acids
It contains a high blend of short and medium chain fatty acids, primarily lauric and myristic acid. These acids are excellent antimicrobial agents. That means they help fight against things like germs, bacteria and fungi.
Because of this, it’s hard not to recommend coconut oil as the go to oil for soaps, lotions, scrubs and more!
Minerals and Nutrients
Coconut oil contains vitamin e and vitamin k, just to name a few. Vitamin e works as an antioxidant that protects and nourishes your skin, while vitamin k is commonly used to remove spider veins, bruises, scars and stretch marks.
The bottom line
Provides moisture for hair and skin – the nutrients in coconut oil are great for your skin. The oil helps to remove dirt and other bacteria from your skin.
Skin firming and treatment – The antioxidants in coconut oil help to firm and tighten your skin, reducing or eliminating common skin issues such as eczema.
If you have acne, dry skin, stretch marks or are just looking for better, softer looking skin, using a product with authentic, cold pressed coconut oil is a sure way to help nourish your body.
